Boy, it has been a long week. I achieved a very successful conclusion to all four of my machines that were due today. One customer spent all day playing with his new machine. It worked flawlessly. Another customer shows up on Monday to take two more of the machines. The fourth ships out next Friday. It’ll just sit there and wait for a week.
Monday I’ll be racing around taking photos for our archives before they get crated up and carted off. The next two or three weeks will be taken up with installation and writing manuals. So still very busy for a while. But once a system is out of our building and into a customer’s production line there’s a big relaxation of pressure. We shipped. We can get paid now.
I’m amazed all four were finished by the deadline. A few days ago I wouldn’t have thought it was possible. Mind you, seeing as nothing will get picked up until Monday we’re kind of cheating and doing some last-minute work on Saturday. I’m all done though, so I get to take Saturday off.
The exhilaration of completing a job is quickly replaced by exhaustion from the past month’s exertions–that’s a lot of words starting with “ex” in the same sentence–and I arrived home just wanting to sleep. Friday nights are ice skating with Daniel though. Debbie offered to take him out so I could stay home and rest. I was momentarily tempted but wasn’t willing to give up my Friday night with eldest son. We skated, talked non-stop, enjoyed each other’s company, came home. Daniel learned all about meteors.
There are only two more skating sessions after tonight. I’ll have to think of something new for the fall. Maybe do something with Joel every week for a change.
