The first coat of paint went on tonight, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I had hoped to start painting yesterday, but that was not to be. Thankfully it’s all easy stuff now. The wall will need another coat or two of primer, and then maybe three coats of colour. I can only manage one coat per day, in the evening. If Debbie can get an hour during the day when she doesn’t have to look after boys, we’ll manage two coats a day. But that’s unlikely.

I don’t think we’ll manage to get the painting finished and sufficiently dry to use the shower in time for our guests, who arrive on Sunday. But it’s tantalizingly possible, so I still harbour a glimmer of hope that we’ll be done in time. As a certain famous person would say, “Vamos a ver.”
