We were driving home this evening, about a mile from home, when Joel, 2, spoke up: “I can see our home!” We spent a minute trying to convince him that he couldn’t actually see home from here, we were too far away. But he kept insisting, “I can see our home!” He was pretty pleased about it. We gave up and concluded that what he meant was that he suddenly recognized where he was, and that we were headed toward home and were almost there. Debbie and the boys walk this route often, to the park, to the library, to buy an ice cream. Joel was excited to be almost home, and pleased to know it.

As Christians we have a home prepared for us by Christ. Are we looking forward to getting home? Are we on the right road home? Would we even recognize that road if we were on it? And if we do recognize it, does that fill us with joy?
