Family Life

So I flew all the way out to Vancouver yesterday, and tomorrow I fly all the way back home. All for the sake of a couple of meetings today. Well. Today was a long day. It was noisy, sometimes rambunctious. Animated discussions. Much laughter. We got an awful lot accomplished, achieved a clear vision. And we ate yummy food. To top it all off, it turns out one of the guys is a pilot, flying float planes for fun. So we spent the last hour swapping flying stories. How could it get any better?

I sat down with Gloria people for breakfast at 9 this morning, in the hotel restaurant. We talked as we ate, and our meeting eventually ended at about 12:30. It was good to catch up with everybody, and to come to a consensus on the path we need to take over the next year or so. We then had a half-hour break, before we were due to meet the PDW guys for lunch. We sat down to lunch at one, and began the afternoon meeting at about 2. That meeting went on till well after dark. Seven, maybe? Then we all went out to supper (having spent the past ten hours in the hotel’s restaurant), and got back to the hotel at about 9.

Excellent group of people I’m working with. I wish I’d had more time to take detailed notes. PDW is now set to design the next Gloria, version 3. The start of manufacturing is at least twelve months away, and there’s a lot of work to be done between now and then. I’m not looking forward to the work (and total loss of free time), but the future looks bright. It was a good day.
