I spent today at a Fanuc robotics event in the interests of expanding work’s horizons. It was a combination of PowerPoint presentations, a dozen or so industrial robots furiously working away in a big warehouse, and lots and lots of food. It was a well-catered event.

There were robots painting, robots welding, robots sorting parts, robots lifting bags of cement, robots lifting engine valves the size of toilet plungers, robots lifting saltine crackers. A robot was wiggling a shaft into a very tight hole. Another robot was stacking ice cream at -30
