Holding God to His Promises

I spent most of Saturday playing with the boys, talking with them, reading to them. It was a good way to unwind, my first day of rest in weeks. Today Debbie decided Daniel should stay home from church. He’s had a cold for a couple of days, and hasn’t been feeling the best. She further decided that I needed a morning of undistracted worship, bless her heart, and sent me off to church on my own.
This morning’s message was about Moses, in times of trial, holding God to his promises (Exodus 33:7-17). I could certainly identify with the “times of trial” part, so I sat up and paid attention. Moses was holding God accountable for what he had said. This didn’t come out of the blue for Moses. He’d been raised by faith (Hebrews 11:23-29), and God had made a habit of letting Israel know what he had in mind (Psalm 103:7). Moses put the two together: by faith he took God at his word.
It was an appealing message, and I wondered what God’s promises were toward my family. What can I grab hold of, by faith, in my current difficulties? I don’t have any specific answers yet, but I’m looking. Comments?
