Family Life

It is December already! We put up our Christmas tree today, much to the boys’ delight. We were traveling the last two, so this is our first stay-at-home Christmas in three years. Last time we did this we only had one child, and he was a baby. That baby is now almost four, and has two brothers. How time flies.

I took the boys to the local Santa parade this afternoon. Freezing cold, but clear. The boys were bundled up in their snowsuits with only their eyes and the tip of their noses visible. In fact, they were wrapped in so many layers about all they could do was move their eyes to follow the parade. They didn’t / couldn’t even turn their heads. They assured me they were warm, each time I asked. I had gloves, scarf, hat and coat, but wished I’d put on a few more things under the coat. Maybe I’ll remember to dress warmly next year. But the boys had fun. Joel watched without comment, and Daniel talked non-stop.

The forecast is threatening lots of snow, then ice, then freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. Lovely. I wrapped all our bushes in burlap to give them some protection against the elements. Winter is here.
