A friend came around to play, and Daniel and Joel each received a small Christmas gift. Debbie had to feed the baby, so she gave the boys strict instructions to take the gifts upstairs and leave them on the gift pile waiting for Christmas. Along the way the boys unwrapped their gifts, to see what they were. To their great excitement, they discovered they’d been given Thomas trains. Debbie was horrified they’d opened their gifts before Christmas day, but what did she expect? Sending the boys off on their own with such tantalizing mysteries.

So the kids were given a lecture on saving gifts till Christmas day. I was informed of the transgression as soon as I walked in the door that evening. The boys were still excited, unrepentant. Debbie will re-wrap the toys to put under the tree. I hope she learned her lesson.
