Family Life

Tonight was the work Christmas party. It was fun to go out to dinner with everybody all dressed up for the festivities. Best of all, it was our second kid-free outing of the year. It was a rush to get dinner ready early for the boys, deliver last-minute instructions to Juanita, the baby sitter, and quickly kiss the children goodbye as we hurried out the door. But man, it was worth it! We had a delicious meal, good conversation, funny speeches, and no urgent phone calls to say the baby was in dire need of Mummy.

Apparently the boys had an uneventful evening, and went to bed on schedule with no fuss. Still, at the end of the evening Juanita made the comment that while fun, caring for three boys was exhausting. Hard work. Yep. We know. And they were cheerful tonight. Wait until you see them grumpy!

We enjoy our kids when they’re happy, and enjoy our moments alone and free of their clamour, if only for a short time. It was nice to go out tonight.
