I’m off to the 2008 NAMM show, held in the Anaheim Convention Center, across the street from Disneyland. It’s the largest music products trade show in the USA, with close to 2,000 exhibitors. The schedule has pages and pages of celebrities endorsing this guitar or that drum set, or performing on stage, or giving seminars on how to make it in the music business. Two weeks ago I’d never even heard of this show, and found out through a supplier.

My goal is to look for components for a new & improved synthesizer I’m working on. Everybody who’s anybody in the music industry will be there, and it’ll be very efficient having them all under one vast roof. It’ll also be difficult to stay focused and avoid being distracted by all the cool stuff going on. It’ll be fun.

I’ve been told the budget won’t allow me to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, at $534 per night. I can afford to walk through the lobby, but that’s about it. I’m not there for sightseeing anyway. I’m there to work. But it’ll be a blast all the same.
