Yesterday’s approach must have had some effect, because when I got home from work tonight the living room was spotlessly tidy. I could almost see all the carpet fibers combed in the same direction. I’m not sure how much of that was Debbie’s doing and how much was the boys’ efforts, but man, what a difference from yesterday.

The boys had also just spent an hour watching videos and playing games on the computer, which improved their dispositions no end. It was a cheerful dinner hour. After dinner I lay on the floor and relaxed, and Daniel and Joel raced around and around the living room, jumping over me every lap. Micah attempted it too. Anything the older boys do he’ll at least assess the possibility of doing it himself. The situation suited me just fine. I got to doze while the boys enjoyed playing with Dad.

Sometimes it doesn’t count if my brain is not fully engaged. They’ll require my undivided attention. But tonight was easy.
