So Angry

These days Daniel flies into a fit of rage at the slightest provocation, usually when he doesn’t get his own way. The unusual thing is not that it happens, but that it’s so extreme. The cause can be the most innocuous thing imaginable, such as giving him an orange vitamin pill when he wanted a purple one (even though initially he was non-committal on the colour). And the reaction is often way out of proportion to the alleged injury. He just goes berserk. When that happens, he’ll usually storm off to his bedroom to vent in solitude, which suits the rest of us just fine. Debbie’s theory is that he’s not getting enough sleep these days, but truth be told, we’re at a loss as to why and what to do about it.
The fundamental reason is that he’s a sinful soul in need of life-changing redemption, but that isn’t something within our control, and so we pray accordingly. Sometimes Joel requests prayer on behalf of Daniel, sometimes Daniel on his own behalf. More often Debbie or I will initiate prayer. It’s a trauma that affects the whole family, and so we deal with it as a family. It’s difficult.

What a cutie! He looks so innocent and sweet in the photo. How they grow up so fast! Parenting is certainly not easy.
