It is increasingly difficult to justify my existence at work these days, mainly because I have nothing to do, but today I managed to earn my wages. I finished putting together ideas for a major upgrade to one of our machine lines. This was the first machine I designed when I started at the company ten years ago. The design has proved surprisingly durable. In an environment where we typically only ever make one of anything, we’ve made more than a dozen machines following the original basic design. It has been a very profitable line for us. Today’s work is the second time in ten years that we’ve updated the design to take advantage of improved technology. I’m just pleased to be doing something other than paperwork.
